General Access to Pompeii and Accessibility

Although it is an ancient site, significant efforts have been made to improve accessibility at the Pompeii Archaeological Park. There is a route (Pompeii for All) designed for visitors with reduced mobility that allows you to visit part of the Park via adapted paths.

However, it is important to remember that the original pavement of the Roman city has been preserved, with uneven cobblestones and level changes, which can make movement difficult in some areas. Park staff are available to assist and provide information on the most accessible itineraries. Accessible restrooms are available near the main entrances and at other points within the site.

Purchasing Tickets for the Pompeii Archaeological Park

Given the high number of visitors throughout the year, especially in spring and summer, we recommend purchasing Pompeii tickets in advance. Pompeii visiting hours

The Pompeii Archaeological Park is open every day of the year, with opening hours that vary depending on the season. From April 1 to October 31, visiting hours are from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm, with the last admission at 5:30 pm. During the autumn and winter months, from November 1 to March 31, access is possible from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, with the last admission at 3:30 pm. The site remains closed on December 25, January 1, and May 1.

The Pompeii Artebus is a free service for visitors to the Pompeii Archaeological Park, operating several shuttle routes that connect the main archaeological site with nearby villas such as Villa Regina (Boscoreale), Oplontis (Villa di Poppea), and other areas of the extended site.

During the winter season (from November 1 to March 31), the first departure from Pompei Piazza Esedra is at 9:30 am, with several intermediate stops until the last departure around 4:00 pm. In the summer season (from April 1 to October 31), the service runs until 6:00 pm, with regular departures starting at 9:30 am and multiple intermediate times throughout the day.
